How TLX Gold Works

TLX Gold is described by its manufacturers as “a breathable multi-foil that responds to changes in the environment.” The material has two main properties. Obviously it is an excellent insulator, but crucially it is also breathable. This means it doesn’t allow water to become trapped in your attic. When the amount of moisture in the air increases, TLX Gold responds by becoming more permeable - allowing more water to pass through. This reduces the risk of condensation building up in your attic space. Too much water from condensation can soak the timbers and cause problems with damp and rot. TLX Gold will prevent this at the same time as stopping the heat from escaping.

An Effective Solution

TLX Gold is only 33mm thick so installing it won’t massively reduce your attic space: just your heating bills. A pitched roof properly insulated with a TLX Gold membrane should reduce heat loss through your roof by an incredible 86%.
