RG Leverett: Part of the CompetentRoof Scheme

01/04/2015
At RG Leverett we have gained a fair few accreditations and certificates over the years including the Norfolk Trusted Trader Scheme and Trust Mark but we are always keen to add another string to our bow. We are delighted to announce that we are part of the CompetentRoofer Scheme which has been set up by the government. The scheme has been designed so roofers can self-certify themselves on the work they have done and that it complies with building regulations. There are benefits that come with using a CompetentRoofer, including:
  • Regulation: Using a CompetentRoofer ensures you have hired a compliant roofer who is up to scratch with recent building regulations.
  • Reliability: They are all audited and inspected before being accepted as a CompetentRoofer as well as undergo regular spot checks.
Recent Case Study We recently supplied and installed a warm roof with a GRP finish for a customer. We were able to self-certify this particular job, using our CompetentRoofer membership and supply our customer with part L building control certificate without the need for a council visit. Our client wanted a GRP (fibreglass) finish, which we were happy to install for them. This was another successful job and our customer was very happy with the end result. GRP Roofing System What is a warm roof? A warm roof is when the insulation is positioned above the structural deck and where no ventilation is required. It is designed to ensure that the temperature of the roof deck is the same as the temperature inside the building. This means the roof structure is being protected from hot and cold weather conditions, minimising the potential damage thermal movement can cause. A warm roof also provides extra protection from condensation. You can see from the images how we were able to install the insulation and GRP roofing.
