Case Study: A New Build Passive House in Weston Longville

17/05/2018

Last week, our team of highly experienced roofers were out in Weston Longville: working on a new build Passive House. The project was a large one, but with our experience and expertise, we were able to complete the work bang on schedule. The images in this blog show the work we did and the captions explain more about this job.

We installed the roof on a new build Passive House. Passive Houses are buildings with excellent thermal performance, airtightness and mechanical ventilation. This results in the building having a reduced ecological footprint and means that very little energy is required to heat or cool the building.

We were tasked with the big job of installing a flat roof system to the 385sqm roof. We chose Danosa’s high performance Polydan felt roofing, because this system is extremely energy efficient. This roof covering is also fire-resistant and watertight.

Danosa’s products are top of the range and we are approved installers of their products. The manufacturers are meticulous. They inspect any roof where their product has been used. Our team of installers have completed various different training courses and are fully approved installers of their roof coverings. The roof covering, we used on the Passive House comes with an independent 20-year insurance backed guarantee, protecting the building for years to come.

The building was in the later stages of construction and the site was very busy. We had a lot of work to do and we were on a tight time scale, but our team managed to fit the roof completely in just two days. We really enjoyed working on the project, and it was great to work on a Passive House which hopefully represent the future of domestic building.
