We’ve just finished up a really rewarding project at a school here in Norfolk, and it’s safe to say that the place looks a lot better than when we started. The job was a full flat roof replacement, complete with fresh skylights and a brand-new roofline. Not only does it look great, but it’s also built to last.
For the main roofing system we went with the Danosa felt system. If you’ve not come across it before, it’s one of those products that gives you peace of mind straight away - tough, reliable, and backed up with a 25-year warranty. That’s basically a quarter of a century without worrying about the roof, which is exactly what you want for a building like a school that takes a beating from the elements all year round.
The skylights have made a huge difference too. Classrooms that were a bit gloomy now feel much brighter and more open, just from the extra daylight streaming in. Anyone who’s sat in a dark classroom or office knows how much nicer it is when you’ve got natural light instead of relying on flickering strip bulbs all day. It’s one of those upgrades that doesn’t just look good, it makes the building nicer to be in.
We also gave the roofline a proper update. It’s the sort of thing that doesn’t always grab attention straight away, but it’s so important. Good fascias and guttering keep the water flowing in the right direction and stop all those long-term problems with damp or leaks creeping in. Plus, it really tidied up the outside of the building, giving it a much smarter finish.
All in all, the school now has a roof that’s watertight, energy-efficient, and easy on the eye. A project we’re proud of.
