Thetford community centre is the hub where many local clubs and societies hold their meetings. When they discovered that their old EPDM roof was failing, they called us. We carried out a full survey of the roof and recommended that the failed EPDM roof be replaced with an insulated liquid system. This would bring the building into compliance with Part L of the building code – the part that deals with thermal efficiency. The new insulated roof would mean less heat would be lost when the building was being heated in winter.
We also recommended that a previous asphalt covering that had not failed be left in place as a vapour control layer. This would help protect the building from the consequences of a build-up of condensation.
