Case Study: A New Flat Roof for Fakenham Flats

06/06/2018
Our team working on the flats.

Once again, our highly experienced team were out in the field - this time completing work on the roofs of two newly built flats in Fakenham. It was a fairly large job, but one we really enjoyed working on – with the aid of some really pleasant weather conditions.

One of the flats we were working on.

We were asked to install roofing systems on both of the building’s roofs. The flats were still an active building site. We had a tight time scale to complete the work. Our team beat the deadline, completing the work in only a week.

We used Danosa’s Polydan high performance built up felt system on the job. The system is an approved contractor system and can only be installed by contractors who have completed the relevant training. The roof will be inspected by the Danosa technical inspection team, who will sign off the work.

We chose Danosa’s system because the system comes with a 20-year independent insurance backed guarantee, which covers the workmanship and the materials used on the job. We installed a tapered insulation scheme underneath the roofing system to ensure the roof complies with the current building regulations surrounding thermal insulation.

Tapered insulation schemes are designed for each specific roof. They provide thermal efficiency, and the correct falls, which ensure that rainwater drains away correctly. We also asked to install skylights into the roof.

We finished off the edges of the roofs with a GRP pap trim, giving a clean modern finish to suit the design of the buildings.

It’s always nice to work in different areas of Norfolk and Fakenham was especially pretty in the May sunshine. The new roof coverings complement the buildings perfectly and will protect them for years to come.
