GRP Roof Installation - Norwich Council Shed Block

We have recently been working in the centre of Norwich to install a brand new GRP roof on a council-owned block of sheds. It was a straightforward project on paper, but as always, a few site challenges kept things interesting. Thankfully, the weather was on our side this time, and the team managed to complete everything on schedule.

GRP - short for glass-reinforced plastic - is a clever combination of polyester resin and fine glass fibres. Once it’s laid in liquid form, it hardens into a tough, seamless surface that completely seals the roof. No joins. No weak spots. Just a smooth, solid finish that keeps out the worst of the British weather.

For this site, GRP was the perfect choice. The sheds needed a durable and low-maintenance roof that wouldn’t let water creep in over time. Because the material is so lightweight, it also puts less strain on the existing structure - something that’s particularly useful for older buildings like these. It’s strong, long-lasting, and once it’s down, it looks smart too.

The new roof will save the council plenty of hassle in the years ahead. It’s built to last, requires very little upkeep, and will stand up to decades of sun, rain, frost and everything in between.
